Integrated Curriculum
Mr. Fetters' 5th grade class focused on the revolutionary war during their specials. Students identified what types of dance movements could be used to represent peace and which movements could represent war. They identified a specific movement vocabulary for each category (ex: War Movement=slash, punch, kick, burst, heavy, collapse, etc... Peaceful Movement= Float, glide, sway, swing, melt, stretch etc...). For their final project, students were given events and groups of people from the revolutionary war to choose from. In groups they identified whether the event represented a peaceful or warlike time, and then used their movement vocabulary to choreograph a dance representing the event.
